Topic: 2020 PFPO Annual General Meeting (AGM)
For information on how to connect to the meeting please login in to the members section.
The PFPO administers the Ontario Police Fitness Award (OPFA), better known as the Fitness Pin, throughout Ontario. The PFPO is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1987 and is filled with a fantastic group of like-minded individuals interested in supporting and improving the fitness, health, and wellbeing of all law enforcement agencies and personnel.
The Current PFPO Executive is listed on the PFPO website: www.pfpo.org
There will be several positions available to all current, certified members of the PFPO to take on more active roles in the operation of the organization. The PFPO Regional Zone Representatives are on the executive and act on behalf of the Law Enforcement Agencies within their Zones (5 PFPO Zones). The 5 Regional Zone Reps and all other Executive positions will be voted on during the 2020 AGM Meeting.
2020 is the 33rd year of the Fitness Pin, and it will be great to see you at this year’s virtual AGM. I hope that you are motivated to step up and make a positive difference for the members and agencies of Ontario Law Enforcement.
Fitness Appraiser Qualification Expiry Dates
Also, due to COVID-19 restrictions within facilities, the planned course for November has been postponed and the Fitness Appraiser Qualification Expiry Dates have been extended. If your qualification date was due to expire in 2020, it has now been extended for a year. Please check with the PFPO Administrator by email or by phone, during business hours, if you are unsure of your status.
Details of the next available courses will be posted as soon as they are arranged.
Official Launch of Canada’s 24-hour Movement Guidelines for Adults
The guidelines have been developed in partnership with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, Public Health Agency of Canada, Queen’s University and ParticipACTION. They will integrate recommendations for physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep.
The date of the release is Thursday, October 15th at 1300 hours. It will be by live webcast. All fitness appraisers, exercise professionals and interested members of the general public are invited to attend.
